Lagos @50: Ambode Hosts Boxer Holyfield

As part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of Lagos State, which falls on May 27, the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday, hosted boxing legend, Evander Holyfield at the Lagos House in Ikeja.

Ambode described Holyfield as the boxing champion of all times and a role classic model for the youths.

As part of his engagement while in Lagos, the four-time heavy champion will take on National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a novelty match to be held on Thursday at the Eko Atlantic, Lagos

Responding, Holyfield, 54, said he is ready help aspiring young Nigerian boxers realize their ambition to be world champions.

“I want kids to learn from me how I became four times heavyweight champion,” Holyfield said.

“This is about giving back to the society. In giving back to the society, I am here to say I got a Real Deal Promotion.”

“I became the person I am because I listened, I followed direction and I did not quit even when I lost,” he said.

“We are looking for young fighters who want to listen and follow instruction.”
