The Kogi State Government has expressed willingness to have more Korean investments in the area of education, agriculture, transport and infrastructure.
The Kogi state government also expressed its readiness to improve on practical knowledge-based education through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to boost technological advancement of the state.
Governor Yahaya Bello in a teleconference meeting held between Kogi government and Korea Friendship Institute yesterday promised to build on their existing relationship to improve technology-based education in the state.
Governor Bello while commending the Government of Republic of Korea for the establishment of Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology in Lokoja, the state capital, assured of continued bilateral cooperation between the two governments.
The Country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA), Woochan Chang, during the teleconference, spoke on the need to conduct an assessment for the formulation of a possible follow-up support to the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology, Lokoja.
He gave an assurance that he will do all within his powers to encourage Kogi state government on its drive to ensure that the teeming youths in the state have access to skills acquisition that would make them self reliant.
Chang noted that the only solution to the current high level of unemployment facing most of the developing counties is investment on vocational and technology enterprises capable of safeguarding the nation’s economy as well as improving the living conditions of citizens.
