The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed readiness to collaborate with the Kogi State Government in tackling insecurity across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The Kogi State Chairman of PDP, Mohammed Gambo, disclosed this while briefing journalists shortly after the maiden meeting between the PDP State Working Committee and Leadership of the party held at its Secretariat in Lokoja, on Monday.
Gambo stressed the need for organizations and meaningful individuals to complement government’s efforts to end rising insecurity across the state.
He lamented the activities of bandits and kidnappers in recent times, which he said, have caused mayhem and inflicted pains on the lives of the innocent citizens.
The PDP Chairman then called on security agencies to live above board in discharging their constitutional responsibility to protect people’s lives and property.
Gambo also called on the federal, state and local governments not relent in their collective task to overcome challenges of insecurity bedeviling communities across the country.
On the Kogi Local Government Elections slated to take place this year, 2026, Gambo told journalists that the PDP working committee has resolved to participate in the election.
He however, appealed to the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission to extend the timetable for the forthcoming 2026 local government elections, especially for their party since he just assumed office through court order.
According to him “As major opposition party, we will enter the election with full force and very optimistic to win overwhelmingly.
“We will set up a committee to reconcile with agrieved members to ensure that we work as a team to emerge victorious. We have also mapped out strategies for grassroots mobilization support for the party”
The PDP chairman also called on members who had defected or sitting on the fence to return to the party, describing the PDP as their political home.
He stressed that the party was not interested in fighting individuals or groups but was focused on internal development and unity.
Gambo said the PDP was determined to put past divisions behind it and work collectively towards a brighter future.
He urged leaders, and members to set aside personal interests and support the rebuilding process.
