From Joseph Amedu, Lokoja

The Kogi East APC Youths Movement has kicked against ethic and tribal politics describing the trend as undemocratic.
The Group declared that those promoting ethic or tribal politics are enemies of development and unity of their state saying that it is unhealthy and unacceptable.
Spokesman of the Political Movement, Emmanuel Promise, at a press conference held in Lokoja on Tuesday, condemned in its entirety politicians championing politics of ethnicity in Kogi East Senatorial District.
Emmanuel Promise described the development as being masterminded by self-seeking politicians who are after individual benefits and not what will get to the entire people across the state.
He called on the people of the zone to reject sentimental politics and embrace politics of realism that would promote peace, unity and development of all sections of the state irrespective of ethnic and tribal differences.
“The essence of this press conference is to address those who have continually used ethnic politics as a veil to mask their true intentions of seeking their own political interests under the guise of fighting for our people.
“Again, we reject political tribalism in all its insidious forms and declare, unequivocally, that Kogi belongs to all its people, irrespective of tribe or creed as tribalism has no place in our state”
Emmanuel Promise affirmed that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo within his one hundred days in office has done very well in response to provision of democracy dividends.
He enumerated Governor Ododo’s vibrancy in governance in just few months to include; provision of a fleet of 5 operational vehicles to each of the 21 Local Government Areas, conscription of 1,000 local hunters into service of Kogi to fortify its security apparatus, prompt payment of workers salaries, eradication of percentage payment of local government employees and above all maintenance of peace and tranquillity amongst others.
