In furtherance of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening internal security architecture, enhancing rapid response to threats and emergencies, and fostering improved police-community relations, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, has commissioned two newly constructed Police Outposts in Lokoja, Kogi State.
The projects were executed by the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership and administration of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen effective policing and expand police presence across communities.
The newly commissioned outposts are located at Adankolo area of Lokoja under ‘A’ Division and Zango area of Lokoja under ‘D’ Division, and are strategically sited to enhance policing coverage, deter criminal activities, and ensure swift response to security threats within the areas and their environs.
Command’s Spokesperson, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, said that the establishment of the outposts followed concerns raised by members of the communities during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting hosted by the Commissioner of Police, where residents highlighted the absence of police formations and the attendant security challenges. CP Kankarofi assured the communities of prompt intervention, a commitment which has now been fulfilled with the siting and commissioning of the facilities at the locations requested.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, CP Kankarofi emphasized the importance of community partnership in achieving effective security, noting that: “These outposts are not just physical structures, but a reflection of our commitment to listening to the people and responding to their security concerns. Sustainable security can only be achieved through cooperation between the Police and the communities.”
The Commissioner charged officers posted to the new outposts to uphold professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police for people-oriented and community-based policing.
CP Kankarofi reassured the good people of Kogi State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining proactive security measures across the State and urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information, assuring that all information provided will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
