In a significant step toward fostering intercultural understanding and economic growth, the Institute for Social Peace and Intercultural Competence (ISPIC) has commissioned its German centre and German Language School at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu.
Speaking on the occasion, the founder of ISPIC, Engr. Anthony Dominic, while sharing the project’s vision, stressed its transformative impact on Nigerian youths.
“This initiative is about elevating and equipping young people with the skills to excel in their chosen fields, free of charge, while addressing economic challenges,” he said.
Similarly, co-founder Dr. Emeka Ani, also emphasised the importance of the program while reflecting on his own struggles abroad 26 years ago. “ I am a product of those who ran away many years ago.
“ISPIC is my perspective to give youths a dream and an opportunity I did not have to thrive when he left the country 26 years ago. All you need to do is to show readiness and commitment to learn the German language and a skill. he said.
One of the German representatives, Dr. Stefan Eschbach highlighted its potential to bridge cultural divides and strengthen ties between Germany and Nigeria. “Germans are practical and results-oriented. This center will foster meaningful relationships and collaboration,” he said.
The headline sponsor, Professor Dr. Dr. Dr. Ulrich Hemel, described Africa as a “continent of hope” and urged Nigeria to seize this opportunity for development.
Professor Hemel emphasized the complementary strengths of Europe and Africa, noting that strategic partnerships could improve lives and promote unity.
He also called for reforms rooted in truth, emphasizing rural development, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and education as pathways to a brighter future.
“Research shows significant social and ecological challenges, but initiatives like this will help overcome educational bottlenecks,” he added.
Earlier, the Executive Director of ISPIC, Reverend Father Professor Ikechukwu Ani, emphasized that the initiative is designed to promote mutual respect across cultures while creating opportunities for growth and development.
Professor Ani outlined ISPIC’s core mission, which includes empowering youths through academic training and skill acquisition programs. “This center will serve as a global point of contact, fostering solutions to long-standing socioeconomic challenges and driving advocacy through media sensitization,” he stated.
The Rector of Institution of Management Science, IMT, Professor Gozie Ogbodo, expressed gratitude to ISPIC for selecting the institution as the host for this transformative project.
Professor Ogbodo described the partnership as a milestone in IMT’s journey to reclaim its position on the global academic stage.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Professor Ogbodo noted efforts to boost academic productivity through improved student conduct, mandatory lecture attendance, and the introduction of new courses at the institution.
The Institute for Social Peace and Intercultural Competence (ISPIC) also launched its School of Technical Acquisition, Research Institutes dedicated to Civil Society and a German Centre for language studies.
This initiative is in partnership with Chovach Global Concept Ltd., marking a significant step toward advancing technical education, intercultural competence, and civil society research in Nigeria.
The institute for intercultural competence which is set to commence training by June 1st, is poised to become a beacon of hope, equipping Nigerian youths with skills, fostering global connections, and driving sustainable development.
