Senator Adamu Mohammed Bulkachuwa representing Bauchi North in the Senate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, has said that majority of Senators have made a bi-partisan move to serve President Muhammadu Buhari an impeachment notice. He cleared what he called the misconception that it was the minority senators of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that were championing the move.
Speaking in a Channels Television Programme, Politics Today, on Monday night he said some drastic action would be taken by the president on insecurity in the country if he were served a notice of impeachment: “Since we made the move the president has met with the security chiefs, given purposeful marching orders. What happened that during a meeting of the all the Senators in a closed session and agreed, that majority of them that Buhari should be served an impeachment notice over insecurity. Why it did not become public was because it was a close session.”
Arguing that the “issue of impeachment” would not have arisen if the president had utilized to full all the assistance the National Assembly had given him by way of budgeting and legislative support to ensure Nigeria, Nigerians and their properties are safe
“There is a saying that sometime you have to apply the carrot and stick to tackle serious problems and up till now nothing of such has been done by the National Assembly.” Take the issue of the attack on Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja. Up till now nobody has been punished and nothing done.”
He denied that he was not planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress, APC stating that “what we are looking for is solution to Nigeria problems without minding which party you belong, there is nothing personal here. Whatever political party you belong to, we took oath to solve Nigeria problems.
Talking about the 2023 general election he urged “every Nigeria to correct what has gone wrong in the country, take Nigeria first and do the right thing.”
