The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday issued certificate of return to 25 members-elect in the just concluded state house of assembly elections in the state.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) out of the 74 political parties in Nigeria won all the 25 seats of the State Assembly.
In his introductory remarks before the certificate presentation, the Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC), for Kogi state, Professor James Apam said the ceremony was the usual tradition of the commission to arrogate authority of victory to members-elect.
He congratulated members-elect on their well deserved victories at the polls and urged them to live above board in representing their people in order to justify the mandate given them.
According to the REC “INEC is desirous of consolidating the nation’s nascent democracy and highly concerned about delivery of good governance by the elected leaders at all levels”
The INEC boss also reminded politicians of the need to play the game by the rule and avoid any acts of violence that could destroy electoral process in the future elections in the country.
Responding on behalf of the Kogi state House of Assembly members-elect, the member-elect for Ankpa( 11) Constituency, Rabiu Alfa gave an assurance that they will not disappoint their people.
He affirmed that they owe a lot for the people who voted them and will strive to live up to expectation on assumption of office.
