INEC Declares PDP Winner of Plateau North Sen District

… Declares Jos North/ Bassa Federal constituency inconclusive

The controversy surrounding last Saturday’s National Assembly Elections in Plateau State might have been laid to rest, as INEC finally announced the results five days after the election was conducted.

The Collation and Returning officer for the Plateau North Senatorial District, Professional Christopher Vande of the University of Jos on Thursday evening declared Barr. Istanfus. D Gyang of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP,winner of the Plateau North Senatorial seat. He polled 269,555 votes to beat his closest rival of the All Progressives Congress APC, Rufus Nature, who scored 171,233

Meanwhile, for the position for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, the Jos North Collation Officer Joc Alexander announced the results as follows, APC 87,361, PDP 53,416.

He said the result of Tudun wada/Kabong was not included, due to some lapses that led to the cancellation of the election in these areas.

Consequently, the returning Officer, Prof. Christopher Vande declared the results of the election into the House of Representatives for Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency as inconclusive, saying INEC will fix a new date for a re-run.
