The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar has handed cheques worth N406 million to families of policemen who died in active service, in Kano.
Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone One headquarters, Sadiq A. Bello, who represented the IGP, handed to money to 29 beneficiaries drawn from Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states.
AIG Bello said the gesture was part of the deceased officer’s entitlements and assured the beneficiaries that more benefits would be given to them after the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, has given his approval.
He said “the IGP would go to extra-mile to ensure that whatever is due to Police personnel whether serving, retired or even deceased, they get it or their families get it as a matter of right.”
Widows Asma’u Mustapha, and Tortyom Mbakaren Theresa, who spoke on behalf of others thanked the IGP for the gesture and promised to put the money to good use as a memorial to their late husbands
