The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has commissioned the newly established 66 Nigeria Police Squadron in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State with a warning against complicity in crime fighting within the trouble southern Plateau senatorial district.
In his statement made available to this medium by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Yakubu Dati on Wednesday in Jos, the Inspector General of Police issued the warning at the ground breaking for the establishment of the 66 Nigeria Police Mobile Squadron in Shendam and the formal presentation of security vehicles to some agencies in Shendam, Plateau State.
He also commended the Governor Simon Lalong for the restoration of peace and the building of peaceful co-existence amongst the citizenry by making peace a cardinal objective of his administration.
The Inspector General disclosed that the performance of Gov Lalong has donated a t large hectares of farmland by calling on others to emulate his good gesture.
He further applauded the state government for equipping the State Command of the Nigeria Police Force with communication gadgets towards crime fighting in Plateau state and its environs .
He charged members of the security force to respect the right citizens and protect lives and properties during their duties post and to also remain committed ,transparent to all .
Earlier in his welcome address, Gov Simon Lalong paid glowing tributes to the Inspector General for his dedication and commitment to securing lives and property.
The Governor emphasised the need for intensified vigilance and community participation towards lasting peace. He thanked the Inspector General for bringing policing closer to the people .
The highlight of the occasion was the commissioning of 51 security vehicles after which the IG personally drove one of the vehicles in company of Lalong to the delight of all guests who gave them a standing ovation.
