An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State, on Wednesday discharged Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of unruly behaviour and assault aboard an Ibom Air flight.
Emmanson was arraigned on Monday on a five-count charge filed by the police. Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami had granted her N500,000 bail but ordered her remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after she failed to meet the conditions.
However, the case was withdrawn on Wednesday after the prosecution, led by Oluwabunmi Adeitan, applied to the court for its discontinuance.
The development followed the Federal Government’s decision to drop the charges. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), who announced the move, said it came after a review of the incident, appeals from concerned Nigerians, and the expression of remorse by those involved.
