Former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida has urged the Federal Government to mobilize Nigerians behind its security initiative to rid the country of worsening insecurity.
General Babangida who made this suggestion in a New Year interview with Channels TV, likened the kind of mobilization he had in mind to what happened during the country’s civil war years between 1967 to 1970 when most Nigerians were re-oriented towards recognizing the need to keep the country one.
He said; “General mobilization of the citizenry to recognize that the insecurity situation is real is what we need to defeat the threat to out country. It is nothing new. We did this between 1967 and 1970, when the whole population was mobilized to keep the country. I think we should be thinking of things like these against insecurity.”
