Police has confirmed the killing two and abduction of other passengers at Gegu, along Lokoja- Abuja highway, by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers. Others received various degree of injuries during the incident.
The incident occurred at about 6.30am on Wednesday between Aseni and Gegu in Kogi Local Government Area in the state.
Victims who were killed in the attack included the business mogul and owner of Chucks Supper Market in Lokoja, Mr.Nicolas Offordile and one other commercial driver from Gegu town.
Our Correspondent gathered that late Mr. Nicholas Offordile was going to Abuja from Lokoja on Wednesday morning in his private car , a Lexus Jeep, with registration LKJ 658 PU and ran into gunmen’s road block at Gegu in Kogi Local area of the state as they were shooting at on coming vehicles, while the other victim was killed in the same manner.
Sources hinted that about eight vehicles were involved and several passengers received various degree of injuries while running for cover.
It was also gathered that the dare devil gunmen stopped and attacked commercial vehicles and a luxury bus heading towards Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, kidnapped several people .
Our Correspondent equally learnt that with the arrival of police in the area, the suspected kidnappers went to another area to mount another road block .
The Police Public Relations officer, DSP William Aya who confirmed the incident , said two persons were killed in their vehilces .
Aya confirmed the killing of the Chief Executive Officer of popular Chucks Super Market and a commercial driver around Gegu along Abuja- Lokoja Highway on Wednesday.
