Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed a veterinary doctor, Ifeanyi Ogbu, and abducted his three children.

The incident occurred on Friday night, in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, when the armed men invaded the doctor’s residence, shooting him before taking his children away.

The attackers broke into the family compound at night and forced their victims into an undisclosed location. Dr Ogbu’s body was later found along a nearby road the following morning.

Until his death, the deceased was a respected practitioner and former Chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT Chapter.

A colleague, Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, confirmed the incident in a social media post, stating that the doctor was found dead while his children remain in captivity.

“Dr Ifeanyi Ogbu, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa, Abuja, was found dead. The three children are yet to be released”, he wrote.

The development has sparked outrage among colleagues and residents, who described the incident as another disturbing example of the rising insecurity in the nation’s capital.

While the FCT Command of the Nigeria Police Force has yet to confirm the incident, the killing comes barely a week after Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise Television, was murdered by armed robbers in the Katampe area of Abuja.
