Dr Ahmad Sani Bala and beneficiaries undergoing treatment after screening
Fifteen medical practitioners under the Platform of the Concerned Jos Youth Association COJOYA Chairman platform have embarked on free medical outreach in Jos North Local Government.
During the outreach they would screen women, children and the elderly on various ailments ranging hepatitis, HIV/Aids, Malaria. They target 1000 beneficiaries during the programme.
The body, which is led by Dr Ahmad Sani Bala disclosed that part of outreach is to sensitize the less privileged on their health status.
According to Dr Bala the annual programme would cover residents of Jos North with 1000 persons in Sabo Layi area of the LGA provided with medical.
According to him, on Saturday morning alone, “ we have screened over 554 persons, including women, children and the old persons, while some of the minor sickness have been treated with drugs such as malaria, hepatitis test.
A youth leader of Sabo Layi, Alh Sadiq Umar Sabo said their medical intervention is aimed at touching the lives of people, especially women and children including the old ones by impacting them health wise.
Sabo decried the absence of government presence in their community with deplorable roads linking up the only dilapidated public school in the area without any public health care unit to take care of the sick.
Also Ismaila Aliyu Entifa Gamji called on the state and federal government to kindly consider the plight of women, children who are suffering from various communicable diseases and non -communicable ones .
Before embarking on the outreach the Concerned Jos Youths Association (COJOYA), in collaboration with Jama’atul Nasiril Islam (JNI) Jos North chapter presented public lecture / advocacy on premarital counseling, screening to reduce the scourge of HIV/AIDs and genetics in Nigeria.

Speaking to our correspondence at the Central Mosque in Jos North LGA, on Thursday, COJOYA Chairman, Bar Buhari Ibrahim Shehu disclosed that the aimed of the 3- day end of year programme of events was to enlighten the Muslim Umah on the danger and stigma attached to patients of the disease in the country.
He said the, “theme of the program, premarital screening and counselling, Islamic perspective and medical perspective “the lecture is aimed at enlightening and educating the public on the important of such screening such as genetics type of test to guard against sickle cell anemia, hepatitis and HIV/ Aids.
Shehu reiterated that the growing scourge of transmission of such a preventable diseases which is silently ravaging homes and communities has encourage the youths to embark on research, enlightenment on vulnerable people in Nigeria.
Professional, medical practitioners were invited to speaks on the diseases. They included Dr Ahmad Sabo ,in charge of human physiological, Dr Zuwaira, Dr Bello Ali Shugaba, the resource persons Dr Yusuf Abdullahi Yusuf and Dr Munir, all of the department of humanity University of Jos.
The chief host, Alh Engr Mansur Nakande said the state chapter is working hard to enlighten the people of Jos North LGA on the National laws by the Federal government on open defecation.
