The monster called ghost worker syndrome that had continued to skyrocket the number of staff on the pay roll of the Kogi state government since its creation August 27, 1991 may soon be over as the present APC led administration has commenced table payment for all civil servants to authentic the actual figure of its employees.
The table payment was considered as the last option by government since all manner of screening exercise have not yielded results due to sabotage of government’s efforts by enemies of progress.
The Kogi State Pay Parade Committee currently handling the table payment has therefore called on the next of kin of any deceased Civil Servants to come forward with evidence of death and a letter from the permanent secretary of the ministry where he or she served as well as letter of appointment, Identity card and the deceased effective letter of promotion to enable collect their pay.
In a statement issued in Lokoja by the Director General , Bureau of Information Services and Grass Root Sensitization, Mallam Abdulkarim Abdulmalik said adequate provision has been made to ensure that prompt attention is given to them.
The Director-General, who is also a member of the Pay Parade noted that members of the committee had been assigned into four groups to monitor the exercise across the State.
According to him, one of the monitoring groups has been assigned to cover Kogi West Senatorial District, another to handle Kogi Central while two groups to handle Kogi East.
The monitoring exercise, which commenced on Friday, is scheduled to visit each of the three Federal Constituencies in the respective Senatorial District.
This measure, he noted, is aimed at ensuring that the Committee has first hand information on the smooth conduct of the exercise as well as attending to emerging challenges that may be inherent in the exercise.
