Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has extended warm congratulations to Nigerian children on this year’s Children’s Day, describing them as the true embodiment of the nation’s future potential.
In a special message on Tuesday marking the 2025 Children’s Day, Mrs. Tinubu said, “As we celebrate this year’s Children’s Day, I send my warmest wishes and love to every child across our great nation whose minds represent the promise of Nigeria’s future.”
Children’s Day is observed annually in Nigeria on May 27 to promote the rights and welfare of children nationwide.
Highlighting this year’s theme, “Stand Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation,” the First Lady urged all Nigerians to unite in protecting children and fostering a safer, more compassionate environment for their growth.
Stressing the harmful effects of bullying, she called for urgent action against all forms of bullying—whether in schools, communities, or online.
“Bullying leaves lasting wounds that impede a child’s emotional, social, and academic development, whether it happens in schools, communities, or online,” she said.
Describing children as the “promise of Nigeria’s future,” Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the need to create nurturing environments where every child can thrive without fear.
“Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, supportive environment free from fear,” she added.
As a mother and prominent national figure, Senator Tinubu called on parents, educators, community leaders, and policymakers to take decisive steps in combating bullying.
“Let us teach our children that true strength lies in compassion, and that genuine leadership begins with caring for one another,” she stated.
Mrs. Tinubu concluded her message with heartfelt wishes for Nigerian children and reaffirmed her commitment to their protection and development.
