A Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed Dr Asue Ighodalo, as validly elected candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the September 21 governorship election instice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on the 4th of July, reportedly declared invalid, the primary election of the PDP held on February 22, 2024, which produced Ighodalo as its governorship candidate.
Ruling in the suit marked CS/469/24 on Wednesday, Justice James Omotosho held that Ighodalo’s nomination was lawful and valid, having emerged from the February 22nd primary held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, in Benin City, Edo State.
The court consequently dismissed the suit filed by Philip Shaibu, challenging Ighodalo’s nomination as PDP candidate for the September 21 gubernatorial election in Edo state.
