Hon Peter Azi, ex-Plateau Speaker
The former Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly ,Rt .Hon Peter Ajang Azi has condemned the killings in his village Dong and Kwi by calling on fellow Nigerian to realize that no one have the right to take the live of another person except as pronounced by the court of law .
Azi made this known in an exclusive interview with our correspondent at his residence in Utan ,Jos North Local Government Council of Plateau state yesterday .
He frowned at the insecurity situation in the country whereby people are being killed without respect to the sanctity of human live, saying that “it is enshrine in our holy books that no one have the power to take the life of fellow man.”
Azi called on Nigerians to organize and defend their community against external aggression because the number of security personnel in Nigeria are inadequate to be everywhere to protect lives and property of the citizenry .
He maintained is only the court of law that can pronounced dead sentence on a fellow man apart from our court of law so we most stop this barbaric act .
Azi who charged politician seeking elective positions to play according to the rules also urged journalists in the country not to escalate the current tension in Nigeria but adhere to objectivity, balanced and accurate reportage of issues that affected the country
Speaking further on the upcoming by- election in Jos North /Bassa Federal Constituency ,Hon Peter Azi said the vacant position need to be occupied so the electorate are expected to vote for another person to file into the vacant position .
According to him , “the constituents are very sad over the demise of their former representative, late Hon Haruna Maitala, but is God who gives life can take it anytime .
He disclosed that the issue regarding zoning the seat to Bassa LGA to complete the remaining tenure led the party to sample the opinion of the aspirants and discovered that nobody was willing to shift position so it was agreed to allow all the aspirants to contest and test their popularity at the poll .
He said, ” the party suggested to them but since they vehemently objected to decision, we have no reason whatsoever to allow all the aspirants to contest for it ,he added.
