Former Abia State governor, Senator Theophilus Orji has doled out N.1million each as seed money to 156 persons who he had sponsored on various skills and vocations.
This was just as Orji, representing Abia Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly donated 30 tricycles and 600 bags of fertilizer to other individuals across the district.
Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Mercy Odochi Orji, he made the presentations at his constituency office in Umuahia, the capital, saying he was in politics to serve the constituents.
The 156 Beneficiaries were trained differently at the National Root Crops Research Institute (NRCRI), Umudike, Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, and, National Centre for Mechanised Agriculture, Ilorin.
He called on the constituents to assess him as their senator by what he had done for them and how much he impacted on their lives and the district when he was governor.
The governor, enumerating other areas he had touched the lives of the constituents to include scholarship awards and infrastructure development thanked them for their support for him.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Chukwu Nwachukwu said the senator had delivered on his campaign promises, saying it takes exceptional leader like Orji to achieve the feat.
Similarly, the Chairman of the organising committee of the ceremony, Barrister Chidiebere Nwoko said Orji had through quality representation worked his way back to the Senate in 2019.
He joined the chairman in calling for support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker for 2019 general election, adding that he was sure Orji would continue to carry the constituents along.
Speaking to our correspondent, a beneficiary, Mr. John Uchenna said he would be eternally grateful to the senator, adding that with the money he would go places in his trade.
Orji had barely six weeks ago offered scholarships to over 100 undergraduates including the physically challenged from the district.
