Following an emergency management meeting to regain consumer confidence and chart a new image recently battered by bad news over unpaid huge debt to a consortium of banks, the Nigerian partners of the Abu Dhabi owners of Etisalat have adopted the name 9mobile.
This decision followed the 3-weeks ultimatum given by the middle –east owners to pull of out the Nigerian telecommunications sector because of the debts
The meeting also informed the customers that the new name would not affect its operation in Nigeria.
The Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC had already assured consumers that the brand would not die and together with the Central Banks of Nigeria have waded into the row with the banks over the debt.
