Businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Her lawyer, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), confirmed that Achimugu, who voluntarily returned to the country from London, was arrested around 5 a.m. on Tuesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The arrest came less than 24 hours after another senior lawyer, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), informed the Federal High Court in Abuja of her intention to honour the anti-graft agency’s invitation on Tuesday, April 29.
Achimugu was declared wanted by the EFCC last month over alleged money laundering and other financial offences.
Shortly after being declared wanted, she filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit against the commission.
