Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, on Monday made good his promise and officially declared his ambition to run for the 2024 governorship election in the State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
Shaibu had to overcome the challenge of venue as the Eterno Hotels in the Government Reservation Area, Benin – City cancelled the reservation, forcing him to make use of the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, Airport Road, Benin City.
In a pre-recorded speech aired on Monday, Shaibu said, “After all the consultation we have made, we need to now make the answer to our consultation known to our people. And the answer is clear: they have asked me to run.
“I have been pressed but not crushed, persecuted but not abandoned, badly hurt but not destroyed. I resonate with the tireless and irrepressible spirit of the Edo people. By the grace of God, nothing and no one can stop us. After all, I be original Edo son…100 percent homeboy.”
The 53-year-old politician said he has put his life on the line for the development and growth of the State and he was determined to make the state great again.
