South America’s side, Ecuador on Friday at the Estadio Unico Madra De Cludaded in Argentina set aside Brazil’s highest victory record at the U20 tournament in Argentina as the Ecuadorians thrashed Fiji Island team in an amazing encounter 9-0 in Group B.
The Ecuadorian victory on Friday night stands uniquely in FIFA ledgers as the highest defeat in history to any team at the U20 level. Cover picture is a goal in motion conceded by Fiji Island.
Brazil, another South American team had whipped debutant Dominican Republic team 6-0 in Group D where Nigeria belongs on Wednesday 24th May 2023 and I had reported that Uruguay was holding the second position then with a 4-0 bashing of Iraq in group E on the 22nd of May.
It was tiresome, cumbersome and boring covering an extremely one sided match as the goals came pouring in when you want to put your legs on the table, take a gulp of your drink while getting set to type your report but the Referee had to fulfill all righteousness refusing to stop the match for the required time to elapse.

In the other group match, the Yankees of America had slammed Slovakia 2-0 to still top Group A with full 9 points and 6-0 goals chart; Record breaking moved to the Round of 16 with USA having 6 points with a fantastic 11-2 goals chart; Slovakia sitting at the 3rd position goes home with 3 points with goals chart of 5-4 while disastrous Fiji team who are in the U20 world cup finals for the second time are 4th in group B unable to win or draw a match, unable to score a goal at all but conceded 16 goals.
Group A is being decided this Friday night as hosts Argentina meet New Zealand at Estadio San Juan Del Bicentenario where USA just played Slovakia while Uzbekistan and Guatemala will meet on the ground where Ecuador miraculously lashed Fiji Islands.
Tomorrow Saturday at the Estadio Cludad De la Plata two Elephants of the tournament in the Flying Eagles of Nigeria and the Samba Boys of Brazil shall clash at 1900 hours to decided who is superior in Group D. At the same time on the turf of Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza that hosted all teams in Group D, the Junior Azzuris will file out against Dominic Republic.
Later after that, at 2200 hours Japan will play Israel and struggling African Champions, Senegal will lock horns with Columbia.
