The Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday handed down a 48-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPC, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and other stakeholders in the oil sector to resolve the lingering fuel scarcity across the country.
Speaking at the corporate headquarters of the service after a meeting with the stakeholders in the sector in Abuja, spokesperson of the DSS, Dr Peter Afunaya, said the officials of respective organisations involved in the supply and distribution of petrol would be heavily sanctioned if the scarcity was prolonged beyond expiration of the ultimatum.
These organisations include the NNPC, independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Members of Oil Markers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN, the National Union of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Union, NUPENG, Depot and Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, DAPMAN and Petroleum Tankers Drivers, PTD.
