The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, on Thursday, confirmed the death of 36 military officers killed in Niger State in circumstances yet to be established.
Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, confirmed the casualties while giving update on the ambush of troops in Niger State and an evacuation helicopter that crashed on Monday.
He refused to disclose the cause of the aircraft crash, adding that an investigation was still underway to determine the cause.
This caution follows yesterday’s warning by the Nigerian Air Force, NAF in response to a viral video allegedly depicting the wreckage of the crashed MI-171 helicopter with bodies of victims at Chukuba Village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, that the citizenry shoul be wary of propaganda by terrorists.
NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, NAF said yesterday it would not give in to the propaganda peddled by terrorists on the crashed aircraft.
Buba on Thursday, urged Nigerians to disregard propaganda about the crashed military helicopter and remain patriotic.
