Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has announced the reversal of the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, from ₦739 per litre to ₦799 per litre, marking the end of its festive season price intervention.
According to the refinery, it had in December reduced pump prices nationwide to ₦739 per litre across MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations to ease economic pressure on Nigerians during the Yuletide. It noted that this was the second consecutive festive season it absorbed significant costs in the national interest, following logistics support in 2024 and price reductions in 2025.
However, the company said many filling stations failed to reflect the reduced price at the pump, thereby denying consumers the benefits of the intervention. With the festive period concluded, the refinery said PMS prices have now been modestly realigned to sustainable levels to support long-term market stability and affordability.
“Under the current alignment, the PMS gantry price is ₦799 per litre, while MRS retail outlets are selling at ₦839 per litre”, the statement said.
Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, said the refinery continues to supply about 50 million litres of PMS daily, with nationwide evacuation and distribution operating normally. He added that the refinery’s flexible design allows it to process a wide range of crude and intermediate feedstocks, ensuring uninterrupted PMS supply even during planned maintenance activities.
As a domestic producer, the refinery said it remains committed to shielding Nigeria from import-related volatility and external supply disruptions, while serving as a stabilising force in the downstream petroleum sector and delivering long-term value for Nigerians.
