Council Chairmen Beef-up Security In Plateau Farming Communities

The Transition Implementation Committee,(TIC) Chairman of Jos North and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Councils of Plateau State has said the councils are beefing up security in their domains in partnership with Vigilante Group of Nigeria to facilitate the return of farmers to the farms and manage the fragile peace in their respective areas.

Speaking separately during their decoration ceremony as Councils patron, they also harped on the issue of Internally Displaced Persons living in camps by appealing to federal and state to take adequate security measures to tackle the problem for farmers there to go back to their ancestral home .

Hon Danjuma Dakim of Barkin-Ladi LGA expressed satisfaction that with the synergy built with the VGN in the council  farmers enjoy bumper harvest this year.

He said the synergy with the military and paramilitary agencies in crime fighting against bandits, kidnappers, cattle rustling, will prevent farmers/herders clashes in the communities affected by insecurity.

Dakim called on the aggrieved members of Barkin-Ladi LGA to shun any form of crime and work towards peaceful coexistence amongst the natives and herders .

He commended the Vigilante Group of Nigeria for their positive impact and cordial working relationship in the society.

According to him, the security services freely offered by the agencies to make communities free from crime is highly appreciated.

Meanwhile,the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Jos North, Samuel Dala Umaru assured the VGN of his commitment in building mutual relationship with them to fish out criminal elements within the Jos/ Bukuru area .

He explained further that the decoration demonstrated his desire to improve the well-being of the council by adding value to promote interfaith dialogue with other religious.

Dala appreciated the VGN for the work,  He said praised their commitment to provide security to the state capital which is consider as one of the flashpoints in the area of conflict .

He maintained that there is no society that can developed in an atmosphere of insecurity and urged everyone to remain resolute and committed to the transformation agenda of the present Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang policy trust.
