The Kogi State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Abubakar Ohere has expressed worry over the sudden disengagement of contractors handling the construction of Ganaja Road in Lokoja, the state capital.
The Commissioner appealed to the Federal Government to reorder the contractors back to site inview of the sufferings faced by Motorists plying the road and residents of the Ganaja Community which he described as unbearable.
” Federal Government should as a matter of urgency consider the plights of the people following the sudden disengagement of the contractors handling the work from the Ganaja Junction to Ganaja Village road and intervene by reordering them back to site”
Ohere in statement which he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Monday, passionately begged the Federal Government to come to the aid of the motorists whom he explained are presently going through a harrowing experience and excruciating pain due to the difficulty and hardship caused by the road.
While pointing out that the FG effort to rehabilitate the road was received with joy and optimism by the Government and people of the state, Ohere however, stressed the need for the FG to ensure the realisation of the goal.
The commissioner said that the sudden disengagement of the contractors from the road is not in the best interest of the state as its location is strategic to the socio economic activities of the People serving as a gateway from the North to the Eastern part of the country.
He therefore, called for urgent intervention by the FG so as to ensure that work on the road is completed.
