As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate the Children’s Day, the National President, Fugar Progressive Union, (FPU), Mr Richard Anetekhai, has felicitated with all Fugarian children across the world, describing them as leaders of tomorrow and the hope for a bright future for our community.
Mr Anetekhai in a statement, also wished them lots of fun and happiness, urging them to be respectful to their parents, teachers while shunning bad habits and company.
“I also encourage all Fugar parents to keep doing their best to give adequate care and the right upbringing to the children.” He advised.
“On our part, to demonstrate our resolve in giving the Fugar children the best opportunity in life to reach their full potentials, we have focused our attention on addressing the educational needs of our children in Fugar.”
He noted that, “In this regard, since January 2020, we have engaged five Fugar graduates to teach our children various subjects at the Fugar Mixed Secondary School. We have also completed the renovation and remodeling of a block of six classrooms, six teacher’s offices and four toilets at the Fugar Mixed Secondary School, including making provision for enough classroom furniture, so that no Fugar child attending the Fugar Mixed Secondary School would have to sit on bare floor in the classroom to learn again.”
According to the FPU President worldwide, “Just today, I also submitted a memo to the National Executive Council of FPU to recommence the FPU Scholarship Scheme from the primary to the tertiary levels. This will ensure that every Fugar child no matter the background has an opportunity to get an education to the tertiary level.”
Mr Anetekhai explained that all these would not have been possible without the Fugar parents and other Fugarians, and therefore thanked all Fugarians that have contributed and pledged towards the Fugar Education Trust Fund and count on their continuous support to develop the city.He congratulated Fugar children and prayed for a brighter future for them.
