Israel has vowed to launch strikes deep into the “heart of Tehran” after Iran breached a newly agreed ceasefire by launching another missile attack on Tuesday.
According to the Israeli military, two ballistic missiles were fired from Iran earlier in the day, triggering air raid sirens across northern Israel and forcing civilians into bomb shelters.
In response, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant (not Israel Katz—unless you meant Katz deliberately) directed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to “respond forcefully” to what he described as a flagrant violation of the ceasefire.
The IDF has been instructed to launch strikes against key targets in Tehran.
The renewed hostilities come just hours after both nations reportedly agreed to a phased ceasefire. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier confirmed the truce, saying it followed Israel’s success in neutralizing what he called the “dual immediate existential threat” posed by Iran’s nuclear and ballistic capabilities.
The ceasefire plan was first announced by former U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday night.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump outlined a two-phase, 24-hour truce beginning with Iran, followed by Israel, which would culminate in an official end to the war.
The agreement had raised hopes of de-escalation following nearly two weeks of deadly exchanges, including Iran’s missile strike on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest U.S. military installation in the region.
With the ceasefire now broken, regional tensions are once again at a boiling point, raising fears of a broader and more protracted conflict.
