As the Independent National Electoral Commission enters the last stretch of collation and announcement of the final results of the presidential election, the emerging patters shows that incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari wI’ll
be announced re-elected any moment from now.
So far, he has outpaced his major challenger and Presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with a wide margin in terms of the number of stated won with up to 19 states.and total number of votes casts about million.
Official presidential elections declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, shows that in the 35 states released so far, including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Buhari of the APC led in Ekiti, Osun, Kwara, Nasarawa, Gombe, Kogi, Yobe, Ogun, Lagos,Sokoto, Niger, Kano, Kebbi, Katsina, Jigawa, Bauchi, Kaduna,Borno and Zamfara,
while Atiku of the PDP, led in A/Ibom, FCT, Ondo, Ebonyi, Abia, Enugu. Adamawa, Anambra, Delta,Taraba, Rivers, Imo, Plateau, Oyo, Edo and C/River.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on INEC to halt the on-going collation and announcement of results form its situation room in Abuja until pre-and post election issues it considered marred the polls are addressed and sorted out
The issues which the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus, has itemised in a letter to Chairman of INEC Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, were spelt out at a press conference by the party’s Deputy Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Barr. Tanimu Turaki, on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Turaki; “We have evidence from the smart card reader accreditation data that what is being announced by INEC has been seriously tampered with and manipulated.
“In Yobe, the total number of votes submitted as cast was more than the number of accredited voters. Whereas the number of accredited voters was 601, 056, the total votes cast was 775, 449.
“This is a clear case of over-voting which, by the provisions of the Electoral Act, renders the election null and void. In such instance, the law provides for another election on a day to be fixed by INEC.
“In Zamfara state, no actual voting took place and there was no single result sheet in any polling unit in the entire state. There was an arrest in Shinkafi Local Government, where an APC member was caught thump-printing ballot papers inside his house.
“Results from the presiding officer from Zamfara were concocted and allocated according to the wishes of the leadership of the APC and INEC.”
Other demands made by the party include the outright deletion of the results from Zamfara from INEC records and a conduct of free, fair and credible Presidential election in Zamfara state, restoration of its over 79, 000 valid votes which were unlawfully cancelled by INEC in Kogi state and the announcement of the authentic results inclusive of the restored 79,000 votes and the 27,000 valid votes unlawfully and arbitrarily cancelled by INEC and a declaration of the authentic result, inclusive of its restored 27,000 votes for it in the FCT results.
“In Plateau, the PDP demands the immediate restoration of our over 30,000 lawful and valid votes, which were unlawfully cancelled particularly in Jos North and the declaration of the genuine results as delivered at the polling units inclusive of our 30,000 restored votes.
“In Nasarawa, the PDP demands the immediate restoration of our over 157, 000 lawful and valid votes which were unlawfully and arbitrarily cancelled by INEC and the announcement of the actual results from the field.”
It stated election was not conducted in and demanded a re-run in the Northeast state.
In all, it called for repeat polls in Bormo, Yobe, Zamfara, and called on the electoral umpire to disclose data from the card readers used in those states as it claimed the electronic voting facility had been compromised to read the alleged fake results from them.
