Blasphemy: Gov Tambuwal Imposes Curfew on Sokoto

There is ongoing riot in Sokoto at this moment following police arrest of elements that caused the death of a young school girl, Deborah Samuel over alleged blasphemy.

Reports say two of the rioters have been shot by the Police, while a majority of the rioters are throwing stones at the Palace of the Sultan, Abubakar Said II. The mob have also laid a siege on the Catholic Cathedral in the capital city, radio and television stations, resisting attempts by the police to restore order.  So far15 persons have been killed in the riots.

To assist the police avert the tense situation from getting out of hand, Governor Aminu Tambuwal has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the capital city, Sokoto.
