Mackenzie Scott, ex-wife of the world’s richest man, Jeff Bezos, has married a school teacher, Dan Jewett.
Jewett who has been a teacher for decades and most recently taught chemistry at the private Lakeside School, announced their engagement through the official website of the ‘Giving Pledge’ a philanthropic web page created by his wife.
“In a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know – and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others,” enthused Jewett, adding, “Recognising how much I have to learn from those unlike me has led me to a partner similarly inclined,” wrote Jewett. “I have seen many ways that MacKenzie has seen her efforts enhanced when she acts on the belief that those with common values but different perspectives, strengths, and experiences are essential to effecting positive change.”
Bezos and Mackenzie divorced in 2019 and Macknezie got a $53 billion divorce settlement fortune after she received a quarter of Bezos’ Amazon shares. Scott ranks 22nd on the list of world’s richest people, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with a net worth of $53.5 billion
