Strong indications emerged on Monday that the vice Chancellor of Kogi state University, Prof Abdulkadir and the Rector of the state polytechnic, Prof Atureta may have been suspended from office.
Our Correspondent gathered that the duo were suspended for non compliance to the new financial guidelines as directed by Governor Yahaya Bello.
Reliable sources also told Our Correspondent that the Governor was terribly miffed by the behaviour of the two top officials and directed that they should proceed on suspension.
The source revealed that the Governor refused to be placated, insisting that their actions were high display of insubordination.
Meanwhile, there are indications that letters are already being issued to MDAs that have complied and funds are soon to be released to them.
In the meantime also, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Kingsley Fanwo has called on top management of agencies under the ministry to fully comply with the new financial guidelines, warning that anyone found wanting, would not be shielded.
At a meeting on Monday, Fanwo said the government was introducing the policies in the best interest of the system and therefore called for total compliance.
It would be recalled that Dr Ahmed Attah, the chief medical director of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital was also suspended from office as a result of the same offence last week.
The suspension, it was learnt was on the directive of Governor Yahaya Bello, who it was gathered was irked by the refusal of the hospital to comply with the new financial directive.
The new financial guideline directs all MDAs to pay all revenues into the Treasury Single Account, TSA.
Governor Bello, it was gathered was not happy that the hospital under the watch of Dr Attah, did not adhere to the directive.
The Governor, had at a meeting with heads of MDAs warned that any disobedience to the directive would not be tolerated.
Dr Attah became the first casualty even as it was learnt that he found himself in a tight corner given the need to keep the hospital running.
