Bank Opens Account for Dele, Little Girl Reading With ATM Light At Its Ondo Branch

Nigerian Bank, First City Monument Bank, FCMB, has located and opened an account at its Ondo state branch, for the school girl who was spotted doing her homework in front of its Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in the state last Wednesday.

According to the photo, the schoolgirl identified as Dele was captured kneeling close to the ATM at the bank’s branch along Yaba road in Ondo city. As the young girl was sorting her homework with the uninterrupted electricity supply at the ATM stand, Bada Maruf Matthew ta customer was about using the ATM, noticed her and tweeted about her condition.

Matthew, captured the scene and shared the photo last Wednesday on the microblogging and it immediately went viral on social media.

According to Bada who said he is the Education Secretary of Ondo West Local Government, in the tweet:

I saw this little Dele at FCMB Bank along Yaba Road in Ondo City. She is using the ATM Gallery light to do her homework. My respect goes to her determination to make it in life. Let it go viral. #Deledetermination.

Viral the tweet went, with comments of lamentation for the bare existent electricity supply in the country, the determination of the youngster against the odds and the need to rally to her support.

Most especially the bank launched a search through its twitter handle and Dele was found.

Bada then updated the information about Dele. He wrote:

“I have been able to locate her and her grandma. The grandmother and the proprietor of her school (Hope of Glory Academy) were well informed.

“Even the Local Government authority is aware too. Necessary documents were collected to ascertain her identity before I proceeded.

“Many have responded to the post. The branch where I saw her has also responded. I was able to open an account for her last Friday, they asked me to come back tomorrow being 10/02/2020 for the details of the account.” Hope of Glory Academy is a private school.

After the account details are sorted out, Nigerians who had pledged to offer her assistance can begin to redeem their pledges for determined Dele.
