Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku has voted his Pu o12, Ajiya ward in Yola, the Adamawa state capital state thirty minutes after polling opened at 8:30 am on Saturday.
The former Vice -President who spoke with journalists after casting his vote, said he was confident he would win at the first ballot and praised the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, for starting the process well.
Meanwhile, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, arrived late at the Alausa polling unit of the Presidential candidate of the All-Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He later arrived at about 10:28 am by which time voting started, accompanied by his wife, Oluremi, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Tinubu had to vote in a makeshift unit because of the laxity of the electoral officials.
Speaking to journalists later Tinubu was happy voting was going smoothly, adding, ” I am confident of winning, I suffered for democracy, and I worked for it. So, we must allow the democratic process to take root.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu thanked Lagosians for conducting themselves peacefully. the late arrival of INEC officials.
