Atiku Abubakar Takes Presidential Candidacy Campaign To Rivers

Former Vice- President Atiku Abubakar  on Tuesday paid a scheduled visit to Governor Nyesom Wike and the party chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State to solicit their support for his ambition to become the party’s candidate in the 2019 polls.

Abubakar who was accompanied by two former governors, Otunba Gbenga Daniels of Ogun state and his Enugu counterpart, Okweilieze Nwodo as well as former Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the federation, Michael Aondoakaa and Senator Abdul Ningi, called on Wike and party leaders to support his ambition to pick the party ticket and promised to set ‘’rescue the country form the serial failure the ruling APC has plunged it and set it on the path of genuine recovery and growth’’

He said: “Since 2015, we have not seen a 100kilometres constructed by the APC Federal Government anywhere in the country. I have never seen Nigeria so divided along religious, ethnic and regional lines as a result of the mismanagement of the APC”

Wike who said the APC led federal government has ‘’performed so below par that every Nigerian owes the country a duty to sack the party in 2019’’, called on every presidential aspirant on the platform of party to see himself or herself as part of the larger PDP family to make the job of unseating the ruling party a collective responsibility.

“Every Presidential Aspirant must see himself as a member of the larger PDP family. We must do everything to ensure that PDP returns to the Presidential Villa in 2019. Only one aspirant will become a candidate. We will do everything to ensure that the party comes out with a candidate that has a track record to upstage the APC”
