Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has told the new state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude, to arrest all miscreants terrorizing and harassing the people of the state.
Senator Ajimobi stated this on Thursday while receiving the new police commissioner in his office, Agodi, Ibadan.
The governor said touts from National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) are found of harassing people and owners of houses under construction.
He urged the police boss to get rid of some bad eggs in the system that are found of leaking information to miscreants before they are arrested.
“You are a man of impeccable character and commitment. I believe you will add value to our security program in the state.
“The main reason for the introduction of government is the protection of lives and property.
“The main cardinal point of governance is security and development. The role of police is pivotal to development”, Ajimobi stating while charging the police boss to encourage community policing and focus on preventive security measures.
He commended the police and all security agencies for their efforts in the state. Earlier, the commissioner of police disclosed he had hit the ground running since he resumed in the state.
He said seven kidnappers and 19 armed robbers had been arrested, adding that seven vehicles have been recovered so far.
