Gov Ikpeazu
The Commander, 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ohafia, General SB Kumapayi has briefed Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu on the security situation of the state and the challenges facing the formation.
At a meeting with Ikpeazu at Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, the headquarters of the Brigade, Kumapayi said the challenges include dilapidated internal roads and residential quarters, and water scarcity.
Commending the governor for the visit, the commander expressed the hope that it has afforded Ikpeazu a first hand observation of the conditions of some infrastructure in the barracks.
The general, who applauded the governor for his aspirations and developmental strides, assured him of the continued cooperation of the Army in maintaining peace and security in the state.
Speaking after visiting the sites of the infrastructure, Ikpeazu assured that his administration will continue to support security agencies in the state to perform their functions satisfactorily.
Ikpeazu, who expressed the readiness of the administration to contribute meaningfully to addressing the challenges as quickly as possible, thanked the commander for inviting him for the visit.
Moved by water scarcity in the barracks, he instructed a civil engineer, who accompanied him on the visit to commence work immediately on its broken-down 10,000-litre capacity water facility.
The governor expressed the opinion that when fully reactivated, the facility will not only serve the barracks in particular, but can also be reticulated to serve the immediate host community.
