About 130 Captains of the Nigerian Army taking the 2017 practical promotion examination to the rank of Major at the headquarters of the 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Enugu have been warned against examination malpractice.
General Officer Commanding (GOC} the division, Maj-Gen Adamu Abubakar handed down the warning while addressing observers, directing staff, members of the examination panel, and the candidates at its auditorium in Enugu, the Enugu state capital.
Stating that the Army, as the institution that has the responsibility of protecting the security of the nation, it cannot afford to compromise standards, he assured that there would be no leakage of the questions.
According to him, the candidates were embarking on a very long journey of their life in the military that required their total commitment to succeed, “There is no shortcut anywhere. You must read your books.
In his opening remarks, the Examination President, Maj-Gen Rashid Yusufu said the examination is intended to test the intellectual, professional abilities, improve the capacity and knowledge base of the candidates in the discharge of their duties.
“The candidates will be tested on map reading, tactics, low density conflicts, communications, staff duties, and French language” said the president about the examination which is being conducted by Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) of the Army.
A press statement issued and signed by Col Sagir Musa, deputy director, Public Relations of the division siad the examination which will last from 16th to 20th October is in line with the directive of the Chief of Army Staff Lt-Gen TY Burutai.
The statement which was obtained by our correspondent pointed out that to this effect, there would be movements of vehicles conveying troops in selected field locations for the examinations.
“Members of the public in Enugu City and Nsude-Udi community along 9th Mile in general are hereby informed not to worry on seeing sporadic movements of military vehicles and personnel during the period of the examination,” he added.
