A group under the auspices of Concerned Citizens from, Lokoja /Kogi Federal Constituency in Kogi State has impressed on Alhaji Seidu Akawu Salihu to contest the next year House of Representatives election in the area.
At a press conference held in Lokoja, the spokesman of the group, Isiaka Suleiman said that the call has become necessary in view of the fact that the area needed a very vibrant representation in the next dispensation.
The group however gave Salihu within the next 48 hours to make up his mind on the matter , saying that they will be forced to occupy his residence if he fails to heed their call.
They noted that it would be a disservice to the people, if as concerned members of the community they failed to take the right steps by ensuring that the area gets the right representation in the next dispensation.
“As we all know, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) last week gave a notice for the official commencement of political activities for the 2019 general elections
“As concerned members of the constituency, we felt it will be a deservice to our people if we fold our arms to give room for someone who lacks basic knowledge about the plights of our people to become our representative. They stressed
They said due to this concern and because of the importance they attached to having a better and quality representation that will bring the needed development to the area.
“We want to announce to you that weighing all available options, one man topping the chart, is no other person than Honourable Sheidu Akawu Salihu
“We want to use this medium to call on him to declare his intention within fourty eight hours to accept our call to represent the people at the green chamber of the National Assembly, his failure will prompt us to occupy his house”. They threatened
The group added that “he has been tested and trusted as commissioner and Member House of Assembly in Kogi State. Most importantly, his popularity, integrity, Intelligence, charisma and above all his good human relations is second to non”
The group commended the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his giant stride aimed at developing the area, saying that the people will continue to support him to achieve his desired goal for the State.
They congratulated the winner of the just concluded, bye – election in the Federal constituency, Haruna Isa, noting that the party has demonstrated that Kogi State is an APC state any day
