Kyari and other NCW officials at the meeting on Monday

The governing All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday laid to rest speculation surrounding the status of its National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
The Deputy National Chairman, North, Senator Abubakar Kyari, confirmed Senator Adamu and Omisore’s resignation after an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) held on Monday, at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.
He said: “The NWC wishes to inform you of the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
“It is now incumbent on me as the Deputy National Chairman, North, and the Deputy National Secretary to assume the roles.”
Also in attendance at the meeting with Kyari were the Deputy National Chairman (South), Emma Enukwu; National Vice Chairman (North West), Salihu Lukman; National Vice Chairman (North East), Salihu Mustapha; National Vice Chairman (North Central), Muazu Bawa; National Vice Chairman (South West), Issacs Kekemeke; National Vice Chairman (South East), Ejoroma Arodiogu and the Deputy National Secretary, Barrister Festus Fuanter.
Kyari announced that the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday have been postponed.
He added that a new date for the meetings would be announced.
Abdullahi had been at loggerheads with President Bola Tinubu since the party’s July 7, 2022 presidential convention for openly supporting the candidature of ex- President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, kicking against the composition of the Presidential Campaign Council without input from the party’s leadership as well as a vocal campaign by the National Vice Chairman (North East), Salihu Mustapha, for a change of guard at the party following success of the Muslim- Muslim presidency. Adamu and Omisore are Muslim and Salihu felt for balance , both needed to resign for a replacement by persons of Christian faith. Salihu in his campaign directly accused Omisore of failing to account for money spent during electioneering.
The president is said to have orchestrated their resignation.
