The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) has been urged to take a lesson from the ongoing nationwide End-SARS protest to conduct a fair and credible election in the December 18 council polls.
All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ohafia local government council, Hon Kalu Mba Nwoke stated this while speaking to newsmen ahead of the party’s primary congresses for the election in the state capital.
“I am using this forum to tell the chairman of the commission, Professor Mkpa Agu Mkpa and his management team to ensure they conduct a free, fair, and credible election in order not to incur the wrath of the people.”
He said anything less than this will attract wide reactions from the people especially the youths, adding that the success of the protests has empowered the people to take to such peaceful approach to express their anger.
The former councillor representing Ohafor Ward 1 (Asaga Ukwu) and the deputy leader of Ohafia legislative council expressed the optimism that ” I will brace the tape first leaving the first runner-up far, far behind.”
He said his confidence is based on his quality representation at the council, adding that if given the opportunity, he will turn around the face of the area through infrastructure development and quality social service.
Nwoke, who appealed to the electorate to come out to cast their ballot for candidates if their choice, appealed to the security agencies to unsure they give the electorate cover to protect their ballots from the “hawks.”
