Gov Aregbesola
All Progressives Congress in the State of Osun has asked the PDP to specifically publish its contributions in advancing education in Osun West Senatorial District between 2003 and 2010, particularly on how it intends to dismantle the N11 billion multi-faceted education projects in Osun West Senatorial District that the Aregbesola-led APC government created and effected in the last seven years.
In a statement from the APC Directorate of Publicity, Research and Strategy Monday and signed by its Director, Kunle Oyatomi, the party emphasised that the people need to know what is at stake for their future.
According to the APC, the opposition had so viciously condemned the state governor for his investments in education and threatened to dismantle the structure, that today, ‘we (APC) confront them to lay bare its plan for the future.
‘The details of what the APC has invested on education and the knock-on effect it has had on the ten local governments that make up Osun West Senatorial District are epic achievements that resonate across the country’, the party boasted.
The APC went ahead to state that ‘no government ever in the history of the state had done anything like what Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola created and effected in the Osun West Senatorial District, and no individual is capable of matching it in the foreseeable future.
‘Over 500,000 men and women have benefited in Osun West Senatorial District – directly and indirectly – from the holistic approach of the APC government to improving standard, infrastructure and participation of education in the state.
‘To enumerate the details will cover pages of newspaper space and we are prepared to show how every local government in the District has been affected’, the APC said, adding that ‘the picture is large and breadth-taking’.
The APC pointed out that ‘a programme which has given out 68 million meals to children for free, at schools, and provided about 300,000 uniforms to students in addition and also given jobs and business opportunities to thousands of men and women is incomparable to anything Osun has known in its 26 years of existence.
‘So, when the PDP came out the other day, making fanfare of 60 or so scholarships by a Senator in the Osun West which investment component in reality completely reverts to the family’s private university business. At best, one would characterise the gesture as a miserable form of tokenism in comparison with the education projects of the APC in that same district that have affected the lives of over 500,000 people’, the APC revealed.
According to the party, ‘there’s virtually no sector of life in the Osun West Senatorial District that APC government has not outperformed any previous administration before it.
‘We challenge the PDP, once again to a public discourse, so that they may try and prove us wrong, if they can’, the APC concluded.
