“In the past 29 years, our dear state has undoubtedly faced its fair share of governance challenges.
” It has indeed been a rollercoaster ride with different administrations- the good, the bad and the ugly. And while some of our problems can be linked to poor governance at the federal level, most are directly tied to the poor administration of our state.
“As I have often said, we can complain all we want about the federal government, but the south east, in particular Anambra State, has all it takes to make her great, if only our political leaders can creatively and with integrity commit themselves to the ideals of transformative political governance
“Therefore, a few months away from her 30th anniversary, it is pertinent to ask the pointed question- how far has Anambra State come?
” I strongly believe it is time for upright people with vision and a strong moral compass to get into public office and help change the governance trajectory of not just Anambra state, but Nigeria at large.
“Members of our great party, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), it is for the above reasons and with great humility that I come before you today.
” Having listened to the yearnings of our people for a government that will be responsive to their needs and in total obedience to the will of God, I solemnly declare before you my intention to contest for the office of governor of Anambra state in the governorship election now fixed for November 6, 2021. ” Okonkwo said
