Anambra 2021: Obi Asks PDP To Conduct Free, Fair Primary

Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general election,  Mr Peter Obi, has urged his party to conduct a free and fair primary id it was prepared to win the November 6 governorship election in Anambra state.
Obi who is a former governor of the state made the appeal as the State Chairman of the party, Sir Ndubuisi Nwobu, announced that eleven governorship aspirants have paid five million naira each as administrative fee to the party in the State
Both PDP leaders spoke Wednesday at Emmaus House in Awka, during the interactive section with the party’s stakeholders
Addressing the stakeholders, Obi , who had purchased 500 PDP cards for each Ward in the State, said soon he would tour all the Wards and local government areas in the state
“I want to do this because Anambra governorship election is important to us this period. I’m participating in politics to get it right for the people and not to seek for anything
“Our primary must be free, fair and credible and anything short of that, I won’t be part of it. Let me make it known now, I have no favoured aspirant. No aspirant has brought even pure water to me, I don’t play such politics “
He said the State needed to elect a governor with conscience, adding that Anambra also needed someone with capacity
“I’m in the premiere league of Nigeria politics and I’m one of the leaders in the premiere league. We want to go into the November 6 governorship election to win it and not to make up the numbers “Obi said
Speaking also, the State Chairman of the party, Sir Ndubuisi Nwobu, assured that the party was in pole position of reclaiming the State during the election
He said the party would embark on aggressive membership drive, adding that every Ward leader and secretary must take their work seriously
Nwobu, announced that the work must end within 14 days ,but must be voluntary, adding that there would be local government monitoring Committee, led by the local government Chairmen of the party
“Our party needs to get going for the November governorship election, adding that PDP members abroad would storm Anambra soon to train members on monitoring and how to secure their votes during election
Nwobu stated that Dr Obiora Okonkwo, Senator Uche Ekwunife and Dr Tony Nwoye, have each paid N5m as administrative fee.
Others were, Hon Chris Azubogu, Valentine Ozigbo, Emeka Etiaba SAN, Mr Godwin Ezeemo, Godwin Maduka, Ifedi Okwenna and Dr Winston Udeh
The surprising entrants to the PDP governorship race in Anambra were lady Chidi Onyemelukwe, the daughter of the late former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme and former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Dr Tony Nwoye
