Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo has said that from January 2024, airlines in the country will pay compensation to passengers for delayed or cancelled flight.
The Minister who made the disclosure during a budget briefing before the joint committee of the National Assembly on Aviation said his Ministry has concluded plans to start the project by publishing defaulting airlines on a weekly basis.
He said he had informed the customer satisfactory commission on the plans.
According to him passengers so affected must be given a “50 per cent rebate or 40 per cent rebate because there must be a rebate,”
“They will publish the list of airlines that do not fly as at when due, cancel flights, delayed flights and how many hours it was delayed. For every delay there is a report by the regulator.” he said, adding that he had already informed stakeholders at a meeting in Lagos and a retreat in Warri, Delta State
