The aggrieved members of the All Progressive Congress ,APC , Plateau state have slammed Governor Simon Bako Lalong for alleged imposition of candidates ahead of the Congresses scheduled to produce chairmen’s of the party across the 17 local government areas .
Spokesperson of the group, Hon Lachang Laven and Moses Depora have expressed disappointment with the action of the governor “for asking party supporters to endorsed unpopular aspirants over credible people.
“We are so shock that the governor who is the chairing a committee on the advancement of democracy had took a wrong decision to appoint those who are not acceptable to the generality of their community .”
The aggrieved members accused the governor of play double standard in promoting illegality by causing disaffection amongst the peace loving APC members in the state .
Hon Lachang Laven said as stalwart of the APC structure in the state they faced the challenges of moving from wards to ward to beg people to join the party “but it is quite disappointing that today we are relegated completely from the affairs of the APC.
According to him ,” what is happening to the APC then we hardly found people who can identify with us because they were running away both at local and state government level because they look at the party now and see many people who didn’t know what happen have occupied key position of authority”.
He explained further that a stakeholder’s meeting held on the matter is meant to interact with those key players to see to the progress of the party .
Mr Moses Koporada said the stakeholders’ meeting was to bring together those ready to fight against ‘executive impunity’, adding they can’t accept endorsement of any candidate by the governor .
Moses accused Governor Lalong of betraying the trust of the people by asking them to vote for controversial ex-Chairman, Latep Dabang without following the the APC guidelines that Congresses most hold across the State and people must choose the leaders .
The convener, Chief Amos Gizo told journalists that ,he was not ready to actively participate in the meeting. They appealed to the national leadership for quick intervention so as to rescue the party before it crashes in the state .
